ShooterofIO: Dark Warfare II is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by Air Studios and published by Mob Productions. It is the fourth main installment in the ShooterofIO series and the second entry in the Dark Warfare sub-series and a sequel to ShooterofIO: Dark Warfare (2024). The game is scheduled to release in October 2026 for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.[1][2]

Set decades after the events of its predecessor, Dark Warfare II shifts the franchise into a near-future setting, taking place in the year 2048. The title represents a tonal and mechanical evolution of the series, moving from the grounded conflicts of the 2020s into a world defined by advanced technological warfare, fractured global alliances, and morally complex battlefields.

Gameplay

Dark Warfare II features the return of the franchise’s core modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies. All three modes will be available at launch.

The campaign continues the Dark Warfare narrative in a new era, exploring global conflict shaped by emerging technologies and destabilized power structures. Multiplayer is designed to support large-scale combat and cross-platform play, while Zombies returns in a new iteration described by the developers as a major evolution of the mode.

The game will support cross-play and unified progression across all platforms.

Development

Dark Warfare II was developed by Air Studios, with preliminary work beginning during development of the original Dark Warfare. Reports and industry rumors that surfaced in early 2025 indicated the studio had already started planning the sequel prior to the first game’s release, which was cited as a reason the original title adopted a comparatively simpler design approach.

Marketing

On December 20, 2025, the official ShooterofIO account on X (formerly Twitter) posted a cryptic red image featuring two dashes, prompting speculation within the community about a possible new project.[3] The teaser was later confirmed to be related to ShooterofIO: Dark Warfare II, which was officially revealed on January 13, 2026.[1] The promotional campaign began the same day with the release of an official teaser cinematic.[1] Air Studios stated that additional reveals—including gameplay footage, narrative details, and community-focused events—would be released in stages ahead of the game's global showcase. Developers also indicated that the marketing campaign would feature hidden clues and “intel drops” tied to the game’s factions and setting, with the first wave of intel beginning on February 22.

In March 2026, the studio continued teasing the project through social media. On March 4, Air Studios posted a message on X expressing excitement for fans anticipating Dark Warfare II, while cautioning players not to rely on circulating rumors and leaks. The post also hinted at a major reveal scheduled for June 12, along with an additional announcement planned two weeks later.[4]

Release

ShooterofIO: Dark Warfare II is scheduled for release in October 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows.[2] On PC, the game will be available via the ShooterofIO HQ launcher, Steam, and Battle.net.[1]
