«2032 2034»

The 2033 IDF World Championship was a professional darts tournament organised by the International Darts Federation (IDF) and held at Alexandra Palace in London, England, from 14 December 2032 to 2 January 2033. It was the tenth edition of the IDF World Championship. The total prize fund remained at $7,500,000, with $1,500,000 awarded to the winner.

The field included 128 players, with the top 32 players in the IDF Order of Merit seeded into the second round. Theo Bartlett entered as the defending champion after winning the 2032 title in dramatic fashion, but he was eliminated in the semi-finals by Liam Renshaw, who went on to win his third world championship with a 7–5 victory over Niklas Stein in the final.

The tournament was notable for its tight margins and high averages, with multiple matches decided in sudden-death legs. Former champions Zane Holloway and Elias Storm both fell before the quarter-finals, while Bartlett’s run came to an end in a classic against Renshaw. Germany’s Stein became the first continental European to reach a World Championship final in IDF history.

Tournament summary[edit | edit source]

First round[edit | edit source]

Among the qualifiers, Levi Stroud edged Jean Meers in a deciding leg thriller. Aidan Lowe hit ten 180s in a 3–2 win over Jordan Kaine, while Ivan Sørensen impressed with a 102.8 average in his whitewash win over Colby Nwosu.

Second round[edit | edit source]

The seeds entered and the shocks began. Elias Storm was eliminated 3–2 by debutant Tomas Vacek, who checked out 136 to seal the upset. Theo Bartlett began his title defence confidently with a 3–0 win over Louis Caldwell. Tyler Brooks hit the tournament’s only nine-darter in a 3–1 win against Derrick So, while Renshaw survived two match darts to scrape past Ben Durrant.

Third round[edit | edit source]

Renshaw found form to dismiss Tyson Hale 4–1, with a 167 checkout from Hale the highest of the event. Bartlett ousted Marco Flynn 4–2 in a scrappy affair. Niklas Stein looked dominant again, beating Aidan Lowe 4–0. Bentley Quade fell 4–3 to Danny Vos in a match that swung wildly throughout.

Fourth round (last 16)[edit | edit source]

Stein outclassed Patrick Lang with a 103 average and four 100+ checkouts. Renshaw outplayed Matthew Keane 4–1, while Bartlett came through a brutal seven-set clash against Ivan Sørensen, surviving a 125 finish that would’ve forced sudden death. Zane Holloway lost 4–2 to Tomas Vacek, who continued his giant-killing run.

Quarter-finals[edit | edit source]

Theo Bartlett ended Vacek’s dream run with a commanding 5–1 victory, punishing missed doubles. Stein defeated Brooks 5–3 in a high-scoring contest, while Renshaw edged out Danny Vos 5–4 in a thriller that featured a 110 average from both players. Luca Hartmann's run ended in a 5–2 loss to Dean Maddox.

Semi-finals[edit | edit source]

The semi-final between Renshaw and Bartlett lived up to the hype. Bartlett led 4–3 before Renshaw reeled off three sets in a row, landing a 104 average and four 100+ finishes to win 6–4. Stein ended Maddox’s run with a composed 6–2 win, becoming the first German player to reach an IDF World Championship final.

Final[edit | edit source]

The final between Liam Renshaw and Niklas Stein featured exceptional scoring. The match was level at 3–3 before Renshaw pulled ahead with back-to-back 12-dart legs. Stein fought back to 5–5 but missed two darts to take the lead in the eleventh set. Renshaw capitalised, winning the final two sets to seal a 7–5 victory and claim his third world title.
