Wonder Woman: Gods of Dust is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Wonder Woman. Produced by DC Studios and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is the third installment in the DC Cinematic Universe (DCCU). Directed by Jennifer Kent and written by Emerald Fennell, the film stars Ana de Armas as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman, with Roman Griffin Davis reprising his role as Damian Wayne / Robin. The ensemble cast also includes Shohreh Aghdashloo, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Indira Varma, Tahar Rahim, Rosamund Pike, Kaya Scodelario, and Nicholas Hoult.

Set after the events of The Brave and the Bold, the film follows Diana as she emerges from exile to investigate a series of supernatural disturbances connected to a long-forgotten Mesopotamian pantheon. As ancient gods rise from the desert and threaten to reclaim the mortal world, Diana must confront the mythic history of the Amazons and choose whether to remain a distant guardian or rejoin the world she left behind. Meanwhile, Robin arrives unexpectedly in search of a sacred Amazonian relic, forcing the two warriors into an uneasy alliance against a divine threat that may transcend even their combined power.

Development of a new Wonder Woman film began following the announcement of the DCCU’s Chapter One: Crisis slate in January 2025. The project was officially greenlit in October 2025, with Jennifer Kent attached as director and Emerald Fennell as screenwriter. The film was envisioned as a mythological thriller exploring Diana’s origins and her place in the modern world, with an emphasis on spiritual horror and ancient mysticism.

Pre-production began in early 2026. Principal photography commenced in June 2026, with filming taking place across Morocco, Jordan, and at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom. The film remains in production as of September 2026.

Wonder Woman: Gods of Dust is scheduled to be released in the United States on August 26, 2027, as the third installment of the DCCU’s Chapter One: Crisis.

Production

Development

In October 2025, DC Studios confirmed Wonder Woman: Gods of Dust as the third feature in the rebooted DC Cinematic Universe, following the releases of Superman: Legacy of Tomorrow and The Brave and the Bold. The film was conceived as a reintroduction of Wonder Woman under a new continuity. Jennifer Kent, best known for The Babadook and her mythic, horror-tinged style, was chosen to direct. Academy Award-winning screenwriter Emerald Fennell was tapped to write the screenplay.

Fennell described the film as “a descent into lost memory and myth, where gods aren't just symbols—they're consequences.”

Pre-production

Pre-production began in early 2026, with concept art focusing on sun-bleached ruins, cursed relics, and the sand-swallowed cities of forgotten pantheons. Ana de Armas was cast as Wonder Woman in April 2026 following a global search. Roman Griffin Davis was confirmed to return as Damian Wayne in a supporting crossover role, continuing threads from The Brave and the Bold.

Filming

Principal photography began in June 2026 and is expected to wrap in November. Location shooting has taken place in Wadi Rum (Jordan), the Sahara (Morocco), and soundstage interiors at Pinewood Studios. Visual effects are being provided by Framestore and Wētā FX, with a focus on blending epic action and surreal mythological horror.

Marketing

A teaser image was unveiled at DC FanDome 2026, showing Diana standing before a crumbling ziggurat, her glowing lasso reflecting off sand-covered ruins. The film's tagline, "The Old Gods Rise," was revealed alongside the first official logo. A teaser trailer is expected in spring 2027.

Release

Wonder Woman: Gods of Dust is scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States on August 26, 2027. It will be the third entry in the DC Cinematic Universe and part of Chapter One: Crisis.
